Homeowners in Rochester reached out to Rochester Pro Roofing after receiving notice from their insurance company that their policy was at risk due to the age and condition of their existing shingles. The roof had one aging layer of architectural shingles that had clearly reached the end of its service life. Granule loss, discoloration, and general wear were signs that the roof no longer met insurance standards for coverage.
To protect the homeowner’s investment and ensure continued insurance eligibility, we performed a complete tear-off of the existing shingle layer down to the decking. Removing the old roofing materials allowed us to properly inspect the roof deck and confirm there were no hidden issues beneath the surface. Starting fresh ensured the new system would meet both structural and insurance requirements.
After confirming the decking was in solid condition, we installed 6 feet of ice and water shield along the eaves to protect against ice dams and water intrusion. We then applied premium synthetic underlayment across the remaining roof surface to provide an additional moisture barrier and long-term durability.
The homeowner selected Duration® shingles by Owens Corning in the bold and timeless Onyx Black color. This deep black finish gives the home a sharp, clean appearance while offering strong wind resistance and dependable performance. To complete the system, we installed an Owens Corning SureVent ridge vent to ensure proper attic ventilation and help extend the life of the new roof.
By the end of the project, the homeowner not only restored full insurance compliance but also upgraded to a high-performance roofing system built to protect their home for decades to come.
