Homeowners in Greece contacted Rochester Pro Roofing after realizing their roof was simply getting too old to keep up with the elements. The shingles were worn, curling, and showing clear signs of long-term weather exposure. During our inspection, we discovered the roof had two layers of old shingles, which added excess weight and prevented proper ventilation. A full tear-off was necessary to restore the roof the right way.
Once we began removing materials, we found that the existing 3/8″ CDX plywood decking was too thin and had begun to delaminate in several areas. Over time, moisture and age had caused the plywood to weaken and separate, compromising the structural integrity of the roof. To ensure long-term performance and safety, we removed the damaged decking and replaced it with new, properly rated plywood to provide a strong, solid foundation.
After rebuilding the deck, we installed 6 feet of ice and water shield along the eaves to protect against ice dams and water intrusion—an important step for homes in Western New York. We then applied premium synthetic underlayment across the remaining roof surface for enhanced durability and moisture protection.
The homeowner selected Duration® shingles by Owens Corning in the classic Brownwood color. This rich, warm tone adds depth and curb appeal while maintaining a timeless look. To complete the roofing system, we installed an Owens Corning SureVent ridge vent to improve attic airflow and help extend the life of the new roof.
With two layers removed, compromised plywood replaced, and a complete Owens Corning roofing system installed, this Greece home now has a strong, properly ventilated, and long-lasting roof built to handle New York’s demanding weather.
